Second Children's Market aims to be Bigger and Better than first
In April we launched a brand new event, Penkridge Children’s Market. We initially planned this to become an annual event, but the feedback we had was so good we have decided to hold another one this autumn. The Children’s Market is an event entirely dedicated to children, it includes:
- A Nearly New sale where parents can sell unwanted toys, clothes and equipment
- A wide variety of market stalls selling all kinds of child focused merchandise
- Craft stalls selling handmade clothes and toys
- A child friendly fun fair
- Petting Farm
- Food and Drinks
- Information stands promoting local children’s groups, clubs, schools and other relevant organisations
This is what traders and visitors had to say about the event held in April:
Nigel Evans – “We exhibited our business and I was very impressed with the amount of people attending and the wide selection of activities and exhibits on offer. We would definitely like to be involved in similar events in the future”
Jason Bull “I’d really like to see it happen again. My four year old had a great time. We planned to pop down to take a look and ended up staying for two hours” Sue Barnfield “It was brilliant you must do it again”
Kerry Turner “A lovely family atmosphere kids had a lovely time”
Bernadette Brooks “Made for a lovely afternoon awesome variety of stalls”
At the April event we had well over 60 stall holders selling a variety of goods from clothes, toys and books to unique personalised hand-print jewellery. There were plenty of activities to keep the children entertained, including a bouncy castle, fairground rides, donkey rides and petting farm as well as delicious treats such as ice-creams, sweets and popcorn. Children had the chance to meet a variety of animals including owls, hawks, llamas, goats, calves and rabbits, as well as bottle feed some lambs. There was a free craft area, where children could have a go at colouring in, paper plate craft and making their own puppets to use in the Market’s very own puppet theatre.
There were plenty of refreshments available, from Staffordshire oatcakes to jacket potatoes, burgers and ice-cream to delicious Sunday lunches in The Old Deanery Farm Cafe.
The Autumn event which we hope will be even bigger and better than the Spring event will be held on Sunday 1st October from 10am to 3pm, and with free admission for children and only £1 for adults, it’s a fantastic value day out for all the family. We have both indoor and outdoor space making it a great day out whatever the weather.
